Source of revenue decrease:
Tuition and fee waiver at University of Wyoming and community colleges for surviving spouses
Assumptions:
While the estimated number of qualifying applicants is not precise, the number of participating surviving spouses is estimated at 6 in FY 2006, 12 in FY 2007, and 18 in FY 2008.
It is estimated that possibly six military personnel that claim Wyoming as their residence could die of service related activities per year. This estimation is a flat rate for the next three years, assuming the war on terror will continue, but not escalate or decrease. It is also assumed that 100 percent of deceased veterans are married and 100 percent of the surviving spouses will use the program as full-time students.
It is assumed that 50 percent would attend the University of Wyoming and 50 percent would attend the community colleges.
The above estimates are based on 12 credit hours per semester and current tuition and fee rates, with an inflation rate of 4 percent.
The table above reflects the estimated tuition and fees that would be waived by the University of Wyoming and the community colleges for surviving spouses qualifying and participating in this program.
