FISCAL NOTE

 

 

This bill contains an appropriation of $10,000,000 from the BUDGET RESERVE ACCOUNT to the new Medical Malpractice Insurance Assistance Account. This appropriation is effective immediately.

 

Funds in this account will be used to pay a portion of physician's medical malpractice insurance premiums, subject to limitations.

 

Physicians may receive assistance for 50% of their medical malpractice premium that relates to patients qualified under the Wyoming Medical Assistance and Services Act or the Child Health Insurance Program, based on the percentage of their practice dedicated to these patients.

 

The amount of potential expenditure from the above appropriation is unknown, because the number of qualifying physicians and the percentage of medical services provided to patients qualified under the Wyoming Medical Assistance and Services Act or the Child Health Insurance Program are unknown.
